Run a Drop Jump Measurement

July 27, 2026 Marius Schober 2 min read

Outcome

Record one step from a documented box height, one landing, an immediate vertical rebound, and a controlled final landing.

Applies to

Use the Drop Jump examination tile with an approved adjacent-plate configuration and a stable box suitable for the planned task.

Person stepping from a box, landing on both force plates, rebounding, and landing again
Drop Jump sequence

Before you begin

  • A qualified practitioner must decide whether this demanding task is suitable and what spotting is required.
  • Place a stable box beside the plates without touching them. Clear the landing and rebound area.
  • Confirm the plates are stable, unloaded, and matched to the selected configuration.
  • Select the correct project, Subject, configuration, and Drop Jump examination.
  • Record the box height, box position, footwear, and arm instruction.
  • Cue the person: “Step off the box; do not jump upward from it. Land with one foot on each plate, rebound upward immediately, land again, and then stand still.”

Steps

  1. Select the Drop Jump tile to open Measure.
  2. Keep the plates completely unloaded during tare. The box must not touch either plate.
  3. Complete any prompted standing stage with the person still and correctly positioned.
  4. Ask the person to move onto the box using a safe route that does not disturb the plates.
  5. Confirm the person and spotter are ready and the area remains clear.
  6. On the cue, the person steps from the box without jumping upward from it.
  7. The person lands with one foot on each plate, rebounds immediately, lands again, and remains still.
  8. Wait for the wizard to finish before allowing the person to step away.
  9. In View, confirm the observed step, first contact, rebound, airborne period, final landing, and stillness are represented in order.
  10. Record box height, arm instruction, footwear, contact quality, assistance, and any reason for repetition.

You should now see

One saved Drop Jump trial with the documented setup and one uninterrupted step-land-rebound-land sequence.

Stop or repeat when

  • The box or another object touches a plate during tare or recording.
  • The person jumps upward from the box, misses a plate, pauses after first contact, or takes extra contacts.
  • The box height changes, unplanned assistance is required, or the task becomes unsafe.
  • The saved trace does not match the observed sequence.

If it does not work

End the attempt safely and allow full recovery. Recheck box stability and position, plate layout, cue, and spotting before beginning a new examination from tare.
