Outcome
Record one continuous rise from a documented chair and foot position to stable standing.
Applies to
Use the Sit-to-Stand examination tile with an approved adjacent-plate configuration and the same setup for comparable trials.

Before you begin
- Use a stable chair that cannot touch or move a force plate during recording.
- Decide chair position, foot position, footwear, arm instruction, and any permitted assistance.
- Clear the standing area and position a spotter when required.
- Confirm the plates are stable, unloaded, and matched to the selected configuration.
- Select the correct project, Subject, configuration, and Sit-to-Stand examination.
- Cue the person: “Sit in the agreed position with your feet still. Keep your arms in the agreed position. On the cue, stand up in one continuous movement and remain still.”
Steps
- Record the chair setup, foot placement, arm instruction, and permitted assistance.
- Select the Sit-to-Stand tile to open Measure.
- Keep the chair, person, and all other contact off the force plates during tare.
- When prompted, seat the person safely and place one foot on each configured plate.
- Confirm both feet are stable, the chair is stable, and the person is ready.
- Give the cue. The person rises in one continuous movement without moving the feet.
- The person reaches an upright position and remains still until the wizard finishes.
- Assist the person after recording if required, without disturbing the measured sequence.
- In View, confirm the recorded sequence matches the observed start, rise, and stable standing.
- Record chair setup, foot position, arm use, assistance, pause, movement quality, and any reason for repetition.
You should now see
One saved Sit-to-Stand trial with a documented setup, one continuous rise, fixed feet, and stable standing at the end.
Stop or repeat when
- The chair touches or moves a plate, or tare is disturbed.
- Feet shift, the person pauses, or arm use differs from the agreed instruction.
- Unplanned assistance is required or stable standing is not reached.
- The trace does not match the observed task.
If it does not work
Stabilise the person first. Recheck chair and foot position, permitted assistance, and the cue. Repeat only when the same safe setup can be restored.
